<p>Nepali Congress has decided not to obstruct the execution of the impeachment motion against Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Lokman Singh Karki. <br><br>The central committee meeting of the party held today concluded that the impeachment motion should be moved ahead as per the House rule and procedures.<br><br>The meeting chaired by party President Sher Bahadur Deuba reached to a conclusion that the Impeachment Recommendation Committee should be allowed to look into the motion freely, according to party Spokesperson Dilendra Prasad Badu.<br>&nbsp;<br>The meeting handed the party senior leaders the responsibility of holding consultations with other political parties regarding the motion.&nbsp; At the meeting, party President Deuba and senior leader Ramchandra Poudel said there was no need for the party to immediately come up with an official decision regarding the impeachment motion as there is the Impeachment Recommendation Committee within the Parliament to determine its fate, as stated by party central member Ram Krishna Yadav.<br><br>The party is likely to discuss about the motion in its parliamentary party meeting also.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br><br>The ongoing meeting of the Nepali Congress which started at the party central office at Sanepa from October 20 has decided to take the leadership of constitution implementation by amending the constitution on the basis of consensus.<br><br>The party also decided to take the initiatives for immediately holding the local body election making the Local Level Restructuring Commission complete the restructuring works at the soonest.<br><br>The party has also reached the conclusion to mobilize central representatives in the 75 districts for making the party organization strong and initiate the necessary debate on national issues.&nbsp; <br><br></p>

<p>The Legislature-Parliament has begun discussions on the impeachment motion against Chief of the Commission for the Investigations of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Lokman Singh Karki. <br><br>The parliamentary discussions on the motion registered by 157 lawmakers including Mahendra Bahadur Shahi of CPN (Maoist Centre) last Wednesday commenced from today.<br><br>The motion presented by lawmaker Shahi was seconded by CPN (UML)'s lawmaker Bhanubhakta Dhakal. <br>&nbsp;<br>Taking part in the preliminary discussions on the motion today, lawmaker Shahi accused the CIAA Chief of using the CIAA, a constitutional body formed as per the principle of the separation of power to control corruption, as a platform for fulfilling family and personal interests. <br><br>Nepali Congress lawmaker Gagan Kumar Thapa said,&nbsp; he has supported the impeachment motion against Chief of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Lokman Singh Karki, as the issue was related to the prestige of Nepali people. <br><br>Similarly, CPN-UML lawmaker Rabindra Adhikari said the motion is not the issue relating to ruling coalition and change of the government but to the conduct of the CIAA Chief Karki, acted against official disciple. <br><br>RPP-Nepal lawmaker Kunti Kumari Shahi however said her party was studying the impeachment motion now, and it would take decision at appropriate time. <br><br>Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal (Loktantrik) lawmaker Jitendra Dev said his party was hurt as the motion was brought in a nontransparent way, albeit it may be good. <br><br>Supporting the motion, CPN (ML) General Secretary and lawmaker CP Mainali said the appointment of CIAA Chief Karki was against people's mandate. <br><br>Nepal Workers and Peasants Party lawmaker Anuradha Thapa Magar said there were many rooms left for doubt as the impeachment motion was brought forcefully. <br><br>Nepali Congress lawmaker Ram Hari Khatiwada pledged to support the motion.<br><br>CPN (UML) lawmaker Yagyaraj Sunuwar said that it was necessary to pass the impeachment motion against Karki by more than two-third majority for the people's supremacy and social justice. <br><br>Similarly, NC lawmaker Badri Prasad Pandey argued that the impeachment motion was registered against Karki, who was in controversy before his appointment to CIAA Chief, in a mysterious way. <br><br>The next House meeting has been scheduled for November 10. <br></p><p><br><b>House passes proposals </b><br><br>A meeting of the Legislature-Parliament today unanimously passed the proposal seeking to send the Bill on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities -2072 BS to the concerned committee for clause-wise discussions. <br><br>Before this, Law Minister Ajay Shankar Nayak had presented the Bill in the House, on behalf of the Prime Minister and Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, Pushpa Kamal Dahal. <br><br>Similarly, the House unanimously approved the proposal seeking to send the Nepal Veterinary Council (First Amendment) Bill- 2072 BS to the related committee for clause- wise discussions.<br></p>

<p>Lawmakers at a meeting of the Development Committee under the Legislature-Parliament today expressed serious concern over the poor condition of the Kalanki-Nagdhunga stretch of the East West Highway in the Capital and the inconvenience to the commuters due to severe traffic congestion.</p><p>The reality is that these days a commuter has to spend up to four hours to travel from Kalanki to Nagdhunga, a distance of seven kilometers.<br><br>Most lawmakers present at the meeting drew the attention of the government towards the completion of the widening task on time and improve the situation of the Valley roads on time which turn muddy in rainy season and dusty, giving too much troubles to the commuters and pedestrians.<br><br><br></p>
