<p>The Workers Trade Union Federation Nepal has submitted a 15-point memorandum to Labour Minister Deepak Bohora urging to increase the salary of workers by 100 per cent. &nbsp;<br><br>The federation has drawn the attention of the Minister saying that the government only increased the salary of the government employees by 25 per cent but workers and common people did have no programme which could benefit them. <br><br>&nbsp;&nbsp; <br><br></p>

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Minister for Information and Communications Sherdhan Rai has said the minimum wage for journalists determined by the government would come into effect from July 16.</p><p>He made it clear that the government would not backtrack from the decision made by the Council of Ministers on May 5 fixing the minimum wage of journalists working in media houses at Rs 19,500 and employees and workers at Rs 14,400; and of journalists working at other media institutions at Rs 14,100 and employees and workers at Rs 12,500. <br><br>The Information and Communications Minister said this while speaking in a programme of interaction entitled 'Implementation of the Minimum Wage in the Media' organised by the Minimum Wage Fixation Committee today.<br><br>He asserted that the decision regarding the minimum wage of media persons made by the Council of Ministers was not to close down the media with small investment but for the job security of all journalists and media persons. <br><br></p>

<p>Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar has said initiations are on to form a national unity government. &nbsp;<br><br>Talking to media persons at Biartanagar Airport today, DPM Gachchhadar shared that parties are holding discussions to form such unity government realizing that such kind of government only could resolve the current problems surfaced in the country. <br><br>DPM Gachchhadar also said that tenure of the current parliament is until 2018 January and all three level polls should be held until the deadline of the same adding that for the purpose all party unity was essential. <br><br>&nbsp;<br><br></p>

<p>Two sisters were electrocuted and four other students were injured at Padari of Dipayal-Silgadhi Municipality-14 today. <br><br>The deceased have been identified as 10-year-old Roji and eight-year-old Reshma Auji, daughters of a local Ganesh Auji, according to the District Police Office, Doti.</p><p>Superintendent of Police Dilli Raj Bista said that the incident took place when they touched the broken electric wire while heading towards school. &nbsp;<br><br>Both the girls died on the spot in the incident. Similarly, Kalu Auji, 10, Ishwora Auji, 8, Santu Auji, 10, and Sita Auji, 8, were injured in the incident. <br><br><br></p>

<p>The meeting of the CPN (Maoist Centre) headquarters today has again decided to forge consensus among political parties for formation of a national unity government to address all kinds of major problems surfaced in the country. &nbsp;<br><br>The meeting held at the residence of the party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Lazimpat decided to hold talks with ruling partner CPN (UML) about the past agreement and&nbsp; 'gentleman agreement' in this connection, said party spokesmen Pampha&nbsp; Bhusal. &nbsp;<br><br>The CPN (MC) has been reiterating to address the issues of protesting parties, expediting the reconstruction projects and providing reliefs to the quake, landslide and flood victims as well.&nbsp; Bhusal added that the meeting decided to hold bilateral and multilateral talks in this regard<br><br><br></p>

<p>Nepal Police has launched the 'Police, My Friend' campaign from today.<br><br>The campaign, which also figures in the government's policy and programme statement for fiscal year 2016/017, has come into force in all the 75 districts.</p><p>With this, all the community-focused activities and programmes of Nepal Police will be incorporated in the 'Police, My Friend' concept.<br><br>The main objective of the campaign is to maintain law and order through the prevention of crime, accidents and social anomalies, rendering the police public-friendly by means of community contact at the community level and at schools throughout the country.<br><br>Launching the campaign, Home Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet expressed that the campaign will contribute to enhancing the role the police has to fulfill in society and its role of institutionalising the norms and values of change.<br><br></p>

<p>The National Wildlife Park has landed a controversy less than two weeks after Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli laid the foundation stone for the same.&nbsp; &nbsp;<br><br>The park was planned to be constructed at Surya Binayak in Bhaktapur district comprising area of different seven community forest users' committees.<br><br>However, the forest users' groups now have demanded for returning the community forests although they were agreed to provide the forests to the wildlife park in the past.</p><p>They have blamed concerned authority saying that the park was going to be constructed without the locals' consent and addressing their demand as per the previous agreement.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br><br>Though, the Setidevi, Suryabinayak, Likha Narayan, Manthali, Balkumari and Gauradevi community forests were planned to develop as the wildlife park as per the previous agreement, now locals are demanding for returning the community forests citing their demands were neglected.<br><br></p>
