TRC Receives 45 thou. conflict-era cases

<p>The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) so far has received as many as 45,000 cases of human rights violation committed during the Maoist decade-long insurgency. <br><br>The TRC is expected to receive over 50,000 conflict-era cases of human rights violation by July 17 the last extended date to file such war-era cases, TRC officials said. <br><br>Investigations into the filed cases will be carried out in two phases. In the first phase, a study will be conducted on whether the lodged cases meet substantial evidences related to human rights violations, said TRC member Manchala Jha.</p><p>She also added that the number and quantity of murder cases and human displacement and property captured during the conflict would be established as well in the first phase. <br><br>And in the second phase, investigation into serious crimes like murder, abduction, rape and physical and mental tortures would be carried out, she said. <br><br>The commission is assigned to look into the serious human rights violation cases upon the civilians during the insurgency era. <br><br></p>
