<p>The voting process of the Nepal Students Union (NSU) to elect its new leadership has not begun yet due to technical reason. The voting was said to start from 8 am today. &nbsp;<br><br>NSU, the student wing of the ruling coalition partner the Nepali Congress, is having its 11th general convention. The voting is taking place at the Nepali Congress central office, Sanepa. <br><br>It is said the voting process could not be started as the Election Committee is running into difficulty to hold the voting for some posts using the electronic voting machine and the ballot paper for some other posts. <br><br>Seven people are vying for the post of NSU President after Padam Raj Panta withdrew his candidacy. They are Manoj Mani Acharya, Nain Singh Mahar, Shuvaram Basnet, Ananda Raj Tripathi, Laxman Acharya, Nagendra Singh Thakuri and Bachan Karki.<br><br>Similarly, Himal Datta Shrestha, Kundan Raj Kafley, Saroj Thapa, Deepak Bhattarai and Shankar Poudel are in the race for the post of General Secretary. Rajesh Gyawali, who had earlier filed his candidacy for the post of general secretary withdrew.<br><br>Likewise, Shiva Rimal, Anjana Aryal, Kedar Khanal, Tika Shrestha and Umesh Bhattarai have filed their candidature for the post of Treasurer of the Union. <br><br>Parameshwar Shah has been elected unopposed to the post of Joint General Secretary from the Madhesi reservation quota. Apart from this, more than 500 candidates are vying for the posts of the Vice President, Joint General Secretary and the Central Member, according to the Election Committee. The NSU's 11th general convention is taking place after a gap of nine years. <br><br><br></p>

<p>The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order in the name of the government barring it from implementing the decision to withdraw the names of 14 ambassadors recommended to different countries. <br><br>A single bench of Chief Justice Sushila Karki issued the order to not implement and have the decision to withdraw the names implemented. <br><br>The Parliamentary Hearings Special Committee (PHSC) has already cleared the names of seven out of 21 recommendations coming from the preceding government. The seven, who cleared the hearings, are from the country's foreign service.<br><br>The Council of Ministers on April 18 recommended names for ambassadorial appointment in 22 countries.</p><p>However, the new government on August 5 took the decision to withdraw the names of 21 individuals.<br><br></p>

India's ambassador to Nepal, Ranjit Rae, has said Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's visit to India is going to take place soon.<br><p><br>Speaking in a face-to-face programme organised by Reporters Club Nepal today, Rae said the high officials of the Nepal and India will be exchanging visits to each others' countries in the near future. <br><br>He said President Bidya Devi Bhandari's and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's visit to India and the Indian President Pranab Mukherjee's visit to Nepal will be discussed during the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi's visit to India. <br><br>DPM Nidhi is going on a visit to India tomorrow as the special representative of Prime Minister Dahal for further strengthening the bilateral ties between Nepal and India and for making arrangements for the high political level visits.<br><br><br></p>

<p>Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today extended support to the Dhurmush – Suntali Foundation campaigning for construction of Integrated Model Settlement for the quake-stricken. <br><br>During a meeting with the cine artist couple famous as Dhurmush-Suntali at his official residence at Baluwatar, PM Dahal declared he will hand over the salary of his first month in office to the Foundation. <br><br>PM Dahal further said the government was working by keeping the integrated model settlement constructed by the Foundation in priority.</p><p>He also pledged necessary support from the government in constructing road infrastructure for the model settlement and to make reconstruction motivational with joint effort from the government and civilians. <br><br><br></p>

<p>Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, and Li Keqiang, Prime Minister of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, held a meeting at latter's office at Zhongnanhai in Beijing this morning.<br><br>During the courtesy meeting, the Chinese Prime Minister thanked DPM and Finance Minister Mahara for the kind invitations extended to Chinese President, Xi Jinping, and the Premier himself of the People's Republic of China. <br><br>On the occasion, the Chinese PM said that the ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries will stay in touch for necessary coordination, the Embassy of Nepal, Beijing stated in a press release. <br><br>Similarly, DPM Mahara expressed his gratitude for the Prime Minister's valuable time and appreciated the government and people of China for their generous support and cooperation in Nepal's socio-economic development.<br><br>The Chinese PM Keqiang assured the visiting DPM Mahara about China's willingness to extend all possible cooperation for Nepal, saying China and Nepal have always developed pragmatic relations.<br><br><br></p>

<p>The visiting delegation of Bangladeshi security officials called on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today.<br><br>In the meeting that took place at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar, PM Dahal extended gratitude for the cooperation and coordination carried out by the people, the government and the security forces of Bangladesh in terms of rescue and relief carried out&nbsp; in course of the 'Gorkha Earthquake' last year.<br><br>Stating that both Nepal and Bangladesh have been grappling with natural disasters, PM Dahal said the Government of Nepal is keen on sharing each others' experiences regarding rescue, relief and reconstruction, according to Manohari Timilsina, the personal deputy secretary to the Prime Minister.<br><br>On the occasion, the Bangladeshi security officials also expressed the Bangladesh's security mechanism is willing to work hand-in-hand regarding enhancing the bilateral ties between the two countries and tackling the disasters. <br><br><br><br></p>

<p>Three persons were killed after drowning in local rivers and canals at different places of the district yesterday. <br><br>Sunil Tamang, 15, of Punarbas Municipality-1 drowned while taking a bath in a local river, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Naina Singh Karki.</p><p>Similarly, Jayalal Chaudhary, 55, and Suklalal Dagaura, 60, Belauri Municipality died after drowning in a local canal, he said. <br>&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br><br><br></p>
