<p>The National Cricket Team which had been to the Netherlands to play in the ICC World Cricket League has returned home this morning.<br><br>The team had played two matches with Netherlands in the fourth round of the ongoing League.</p><p>It had won in one match against Namibia and faced seven-wicket defeat against the host country in another. <br><br><br></p>

<p>The Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has resumed Kathmandu-Dubai direct flight after a gap of around four years. Earlier the service was halted due to a lack of aircraft. <br><br>The service formally resumed when an aircraft belonging to the national flag-carrier with 158 passengers onboard took off for Dubai at 11:20 pm, the NAC Corporate Director and Spokesperson Ram Hari Sharma said. <br><br>The plane landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport at 10:25 today morning on its return journey from Dubai, he said. <br><br><br><br></p>

<p>Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the citizens should have easy access to information.</p><p>In a message given on the occasion of start of a decade of implementation of the Right to Information legislation in the country, PM Dahal stressed on providing easy access to the citizens to information of public importance in line with the Right to Information Act.</p><p>The Prime Minister stated in the message that the celebration of the National Information Day would hold meaning only when the government, along with all the public bodies, express commitment and carry out works towards respecting the citizens' right to information.<br><br><b>PRIME MINISTER TO MONITOR GOVERNMENT'S WORKS FROM SINGHA DURBAR</b><br>&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br>Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that he would inspect and monitor the functioning of the government by staying inside the administrative building Singha Durbar instead of attending formal programmes frequently. <br><br>The PM said his move aims to get effective results from the works of the government. &nbsp;<br>The PM shared his view with a team from Sindhuli, who reached the PM residence in Baluwatar today to congratulate and extend best wishes to him.</p><p>During the meeting, PM Dahal told the delegation that the government is creating an environment of elections through an amendment to the constitution, said that the PM Secretariat. <br><br>Prime Minister Dahal expressed belief that holding of the local body elections would help the country pursue political stability. <br>Saying that high level envoys were sent to neighbours China and India to maintain balanced diplomatic ties with them, he said it is his responsibility to consolidate internal and external nationality of the country. <br>During the meeting with the PM, the delegation including CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Haribol Gajurel drew the attention of the PM, demanding that relief amounts the government has announced to the victims of the earthquake on April 25, 2015 from Sindhuli be increased. <br><br></p>

<p>Nepali Congress leader Ramhari Khatiwada has said the party would finalise the names of people to represent the party in the government as ministers by coming Sunday (August 21).<br><br>Speaking at the face-to-face programme organised by Reporters' Club Nepal today, the NC lawmaker Khatiwada said although there was delay in giving the list of names for appointment as ministers due to the general convention of the Nepal Students Union, the issue would be finalised by Sunday.<br><br>Mr. Khatiwada suggested that the UML should not become an obstruction to nation building. <br><br><br></p>

<p>The UML leaders have said the new coalition was a mere lure fixed by various power centres. <br><br>During the party meeting being held since Sunday, the leaders came up with such views while evaluating the current national politics and party's role. <br><br>Although the CPN-UML had tried to keep intact the UML-Maoist coalition, Chairman of the CPN (Maoist-Centre) was badly lured by various power centres, which finally collapsed the UML-led government, the party claimed. <br><br>During the meeting today, leaders Bishnu Poudel, Subash Nembang and Chhabi Lal Bishwokarma expressed their views, said Party Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai in a press release. <br><br>The press release further stated that the party played a leading role in constitution writing; worked for the people and the country; brought the foreign relations in right track, and instilled confidence among people on economic prosperity. <br><br>Even the party's flaws were discussed and correction measure sought during the meeting. <br><br><br></p>

<p>The traditional festival of Gaijatra or the 'cow festival' is being observed from today in the three cities of Kathmandu Valley and some other places in the country amidst fun, gaiety, humor, satire and entertainment.</p><p>The festival, beginning on the first day of the waning moon in the month of Bhadra as per the lunar calendar, lasts for a week.</p><p>During this time-honored tradition, people of all ages in the guise of cows and lunatics go around the city, wearing odd costumes to commemorate those who died during the past year. <br><br>The bereaved families offer fruits, bread, beaten rice, curd and money to those participating in the procession including the cows. <br><br>The day is a public holiday in Kathmandu Valley. <br><br><br><br></p>
