The agencies related to the Ministry of Information and Communications have made satisfactory progress as per the review of the works carried out by these bodies in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

The information has been shared at a meeting of the ministry-level development problems resolution committee today.

The progress report presented in the meeting showed that 'satisfactory' progress has been made in the recurrent and capital expenditure and the physical infrastructure sector.

he progress towards current expenditure is 84.29 per cent and 29.35 per cent towards capital expenditure in terms of the overall budgetary outlay of the Ministry in the first quarter.

The total financial progress in the first quarter is recorded at 80.93 per cent while the total financial progress in terms of the annual budgetary allocation is 27.11 per cent.

The Ministry stated that there is comparatively less capital expenditure as most of the agencies had to fulfill various processes for operating big projects.

He said that Vice-Chancellor at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Prof Dr M Jagadesh Kumar, has been invited as the chief guest of the ceremony. Vice-Chancellor Kumar is scheduled to arrive here on Friday.

The TU has the tradition of inviting an academician of universities of foreign countries as the chief guest at its convocation ceremony.

A total of 8,267 graduates including 62 Ph D holders will get graduation certificate on the occasion.

Finance Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has said A meeting of the Council of Ministers held in Singha Durbar today decided to provide an allowance of 5,000 Rupees a month to the Kidney and cancer patients physically incapacitated people due to spinal injury

Likewise the meeting has decided to appoint Dr Pushpa Chaudhari as the Secretary at the Ministry of Health.

Minister Karki said the meeting decided to give instructions to the bodies concerned to carry out the reconstruction of the historic Ranipokhari as per the standards set by the Department of Archaeology .

The meeting decided to accept the loan assistance of 6.21 billion Ruoees that the World Bank is to provide in the second phase with the objective of further strengthening the Vocational Education and Training Enhancement Project .

Minister Karki said that the today's Council of Ministers meeting also decided to accept the Rs 1.4 billion assistance from the government of the Republic of Korea to establish a research and development centre in the Kathmandu University.
