<p>The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) so far has received as many as 45,000 cases of human rights violation committed during the Maoist decade-long insurgency. <br><br>The TRC is expected to receive over 50,000 conflict-era cases of human rights violation by July 17 the last extended date to file such war-era cases, TRC officials said. <br><br>Investigations into the filed cases will be carried out in two phases. In the first phase, a study will be conducted on whether the lodged cases meet substantial evidences related to human rights violations, said TRC member Manchala Jha.</p><p>She also added that the number and quantity of murder cases and human displacement and property captured during the conflict would be established as well in the first phase. <br><br>And in the second phase, investigation into serious crimes like murder, abduction, rape and physical and mental tortures would be carried out, she said. <br><br>The commission is assigned to look into the serious human rights violation cases upon the civilians during the insurgency era. <br><br></p>

<p>A mother has died while three of her children have fallen ill after consuming wild mushroom in Kalinchok VDC-7 of the district on Wednesday. The deceased is 48-year-old Phulmaya Tamang.<br><br>Locals said her two daughters – 17-year-old Anita Tamang and nine-year-old Sanu Kanchhi Tamang – and son 14-year-old Kale Tamang, are seriously ill.</p><p>They are unconscious, said Gyalbo Tamang, a local from Kalinchok. He said preparation is being made to take them to the district headquarters, Charikot for treatment.<br><br></p>

<p>The Legislature-Parliament is currently holding discussions on the topics related to seven different ministries under the Appropriation Bill-2073.<br><br>The Parliament Secretariat has fixed the agenda for holding discussions on different headings under the Appropriation Bill until July 5. Daily five hours have been allocated for this purpose.<br><br>Deliberations on the topics related to the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Land Reform and Management, the Ministry of Agricultural Development, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and the Ministry of Youth and Sports mentioned in the Appropriation Bill concluded today.<br><br>Before this, the Parliament endorsed the names of the lawmakers on the investigation committee that the Parliament had decided to form in response to the demand made by the main opposition party, the Nepali Congress. <br><br>The main opposition party had called on the parliament to form a committee to probe into the leakage of budget information prior to its announcement in parliament. <br><br>The lawmakers nominated on the committee are Aman Lal Modi, Bharat Saha, Bbauram Pokharel, Rajan Bhattarai, Ramhari Khatiwada, Baijnath Chaudhary, Shivaji Yadav and Sita Luintel Gyawali.<br><br></p>

<p><br>&nbsp;&nbsp; The Legislature-Parliament has unanimously approved the proposal to review the Justice Administration Bill-2073 tabled by Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Agni Prasad Kharel. <br><br>Joining in the discussions on the proposal, lawmaker of the Nepal Workers Peasants Party Prem Suwal stressed the need for keeping the court away from political interference. <br><br>Likewise, another lawmaker Janakraj Joshi shed light on the matter of becoming mindful of whether the country could stand the expenditures of high courts to be set up across the country as per the constitution. <br><br>In response, the minister Kharel said that the attention of the government has been drawn to keep up judiciary with time and make it impartial and transparent.<br><br></p>

<p>The far western hilly districts have been facing continuous jolts of earthquake since yesterday. So far, the Seismological Centre in Surkhet has recorded 21 jolts of quake as of this afternoon. <br><br>An earthquake measuring 3.4 in the Richter scale was recorded at 4:32 Thursday morning following by another of 3.8 Richter scale at 7:00 am, 2.8 Richter scale at 12.07 pm and two more of smaller scales. On Wednesday alone, 16 jolts were recorded. <br><br>These were fresh tremors and not aftershock of the Gorkha earthquake of April 25, 2015, Chief of National Seismological Centre in Kathmandu Lok Bijaya Adhikari said.</p><p>He however said that jolts of lesser scale following an earthquake of above 5 Richter scale was obvious and there was not need to be afraid of it. <br><br>The local administration has meanwhile appealed to all to remain alert and be prepared for any eventuality of a quake. <br><br></p>
