<p>The government has announced a public holiday on Thursday (July 7) on the occasion of the Muslim's festival of Eid al-Fitr. <br><br>The Home Ministry issued a statement with the decision to declare a public holiday across the country on the day. <br><br><br></p>

<p>Some ministers, while responding to the questions by lawmakers during discussions on the various headings under the Appropriation Bill, 2073 in the Legislature-Parliament meeting today, commented that the lawmakers had asked questions by exaggerating the reality.<br><br>Responding to the queries from MPs related to the topics concerning the Ministry of Commerce, Commerce Minister Jayant Chand said the government is effortful towards trade diversification taking advantage of the proposal on trade facilitation ratified by the World Trade Organisation as the country is its member.<br><br>Similarly, Minister for Science and Technology Shivalal Thapa said preparations are on for revising the Science and Technology Policy, 2063. He further said preparations have been made for carrying out transaction through electronic signature in the government bodies. <br><br>Likewise, Minister for Population and Environment Bishwendra Paswan hoped that the MPs will lend cooperation to the Ministry in the efforts it has initiated for implementing environment-friendly policies. <br><br>Similarly, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ananda Prasad Pokharel said a master plan has been formulated to make historical places of the country as tourism destinations, preparation is underway for the reconstruction of heritages, safety for adventurous tourism and 10-year tourism strategic plan has been prepared. <br><br>Likewise, Irrigation Minister Umesh Kumar Yadav said the government is effortful to create environment for the expansion of irrigation facility at a time when the country cannot adopt modern agriculture system although there is 3,641,000 hectares of land appropriate for cultivation. <br><br>Supplies Minister Ganeshman Pun said that necessary arrangement has been made for increasing capacity of fuel storage in the government's Policies and Programmes and budget. <br><br></p>

The swollen Bhotekoshi River of Sindhupalchowk last night has swept away 20 concrete houses and has put 200 houses at high risk.<br><p><br>Police Inspector at the Border Police Office, Larcha, Khumlal Bhusal, said that some 200 houses from Daskilo of Tatopani VDC to Liphing of Larcha are at high risk due to river eroding. <br><br>The river has eroded some 50 metres road at Kodari along the Araniko highway. The flood has swept away Tatopani-based Mansarobar Boarding School and embankment of Upper Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project at Daskilo, according to the Police Office. &nbsp;<br><br>Barhabise-Tatopani road section has remained disrupted due to floods and mud slip.<br><br><b>NC DEMANDS COMPENSATION FOR HOUSES SWEPT AWAY BY BHOTEKOSHI RIVER </b><br>&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br>Nepali Congress (NC) has demanded that people displaced by or at high risk of flood in settlements along the banks of the Bhotekoshi River in Sindhupalchok district should be relocated to safer areas. <br><br>In a statement undersigned by chief secretary of NC's Kathmandu party office Krishna Prasad Poudel, the NC has also demanded appropriate compensation to those whose houses were swept away by a flooding last night. The NC also expressed sorrow over the incident. <br><br><br></p>

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Speaker Onsari Gharti has directed the concerned ministers to respond the House regarding the questions raised by lawmakers on the issues of loss of lives and property due to floods and landslides as well as cases of violence against women. <br><br>During the 'zero hour' in today's meeting of the Legislature-Parliament, lawmakers demanded the government to provide relief and compensation to the landslide and flood affected people of different parts of the country.<br><br>Stating that people of the surrounding areas of Bhotekoshi in Sindhupalchowk were affected due to flood in Bhotekoshi and people of different places of Pyuthan have been hit by landslides, the lawmakers demanded to provide compensation to the victim families.</p><p>They also asked the government to carry out investigation into the collapse of the canal of the Banke-based Sikta Irrigation Project in course of a test-run.<br><br><b>MINISTERS ATTEND QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION &nbsp;</b><br><br>The government ministers are currently responding to the questions over various subjects pertaining to the Appropriation Bill, 2073 in the Legislature-Parliament meeting today. <br><br>The deliberation over the Bill based on the national budget will be followed by the passage of the budget on July 8, according to the Parliament Secretariat. <br><br>The question and answer session will last for two days during which lawmakers who are not content with the ministers' response will advance counter-questions.<br><br></p>

<p>The health condition of Nepali Congress General Secretary Sashank Koirala is critical but stable, said the doctors attending on him at Om Hospital in the capital city. <br><br>General Secretary Koirala was admitted to the Hospital at 8:00 pm Tuesday after he felt difficulty in respiration. But his condition worsened much after 5:00 am today.</p><p>Managing Director at the Hospital, Hari Kishor Shrestha informed the National News Agency (RSS) that his condition deteriorated sharply after the vomit chocked his respiration.</p><p>He has been suffering from severe pneumonia, Shrestha added. Similarly, another doctor attending on Koirala, Dr Harish Joshi, said a chest tube was installed owing to the pneumonia and the formation of gas outside his lungs. <br><br>As many as 15 doctors including his spouse Dr Supatra Koirala, and Dr Arjun Karki, Dr UN Pathak, Dr Laba Joshi, Dr Shyam Maharjan, Dr Subash Acharya, Dr Mahesh Bhattarai, Dr Rabindra Shrestha, Dr Rawal Pathak, Dr PK Chhetri, and Dr Hari Kishor Shrestha have been attending General Secretary Koirala. <iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/v2_LUSx154c" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="450" width="700"></iframe> <br><br>Dr Shrestha further said his heart beat is 80 per minute and blood pressure 100/50, while liver movement is 90 percent. He was hospitalised following sudden problems in his health. Although it was suspected that Dr Koirala suffered a heart attack, that was not the case upon medical examination but he has pneumonia, according to Dr Lav Joshi, who is involved in the treatment.<br><br>As per the latest medical report released by the hospital, Dr Koirala's medical condition at present is 'critically ill with stable vital signs under advanced life support.
