Government unveils budget of Rs 1278 billion

<p><span style="line-height: 1.42857;">The government has unveiled the budget of Rs 1278 billion for the coming fiscal year 2017/018. 
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara presented the budget at meeting of the Legislature-parliament today. 
Among the total budget, Rs 803 billion has been allocated for the recurrent category while Rs 335 billion for the capital expenditure.&nbsp;</span><br></p><p>presenting the budget, Finance Minister Mahara said people could feel Singh Durbar at local levels as they have been provided with enough resources to deliver services and take ahead the development works from themselves.</p><p>He said the budget has also prioritized reconstruction works in the aftermath of massive earthquake.</p><p>Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara said &nbsp;budget has been allocated Rs 100 million to 390 million for rural municipalities, 150 million to 430 million for municipalities.</p><p>Similarly, Rs 400 million to 630 million has been allocated for sub metropolitan cities and Rs 560 million to 1240 million for metropolitan cities for the fiscal year 2017/18.</p><p>Similarly, the finance minster said 76.41 billion rupees additional amount has been allocated for the local levels as a conditional donation.&nbsp;</p><p>he said the projects of national pride would be expidited with enough resources, accodingly, 500 million was allocated for Upper Tamakoshi hydropower project, 10.17 billion rupees for Budi Gandaki hydro project and 5.16 billion rupees is for irrigation.</p><p>Minister Mahara said, Raxaul-Amlekhgunj pipeline project will be given priority for the smooth supply of the petroleum projects.</p><p>Minister Mahara informed that 13.72 billion rupees has been allocated for Bara Nijgunj &nbsp;Bhairahawa Gautam Buddha and Pokhara International airports.</p><p>likeise, 10.14 billion rupees has been allocated for the Kathmandu Terai Fast Track and 4.27 billion rupees for Postal highways and 2.37 for North South Silk road.</p><p>An underground tunnel connecting Koteshwar to Suryabinayak will be constructed to ease the traffic congestion.&nbsp;</p><p>Highways in the mountain will be surveyed and constructed.</p><p>Budget will be allocated for the Lumbini-Pokhara-Kerung railway.</p><p>A mega city will be developed in each province and seven municipalities will be developed into satellite cities, said Minister Mahara presenting the budget.&nbsp;</p><p>Similarly, the budget has also given priority to the preservation of various cultures and languages of the communities, leadership development, skills development and service sectors.</p><p>The budget has also placed Tele communication, postal serve, internet, telephone, senior citizen allowances in priority.</p><p>Likewise, 36 billion has been allocated for social security allowance in the budget.&nbsp;</p><p>Rs 30.47 billion has been allocated for the urban infrastructure development.</p><p>A high level salary advisory panel will be formed to recommend and review salary of the civil servants.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>The existing revenue system will be reformed to make the revenue collection system more effective. &nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>The budget envisages 6 percent inflation rate, plans 100,000 jobs and other 400,000 new jobs.&nbsp;</p>
