CWC ratified by House, October 25 set to discuss against Karki

<p><br>The Legislature-Parliament today approved the Convention on the Prohibition of Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction.<br><br>A parliament meeting today passed the Convention also knows as the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) by majority. Prior to this, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat tabled a proposal at the meeting, seeking the approval of the Convention.<br><br>In his replies to lawmakers' queries, Minister Mahat said the government decided to introduce the Convention to the House, seeking its ratification as it has a clear stand that there must not be the misuse of chemical weapons by anyone else and its use should be controlled gradually. &nbsp;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br><b>October 25 set to discuss impeachment motion against Karki</b><br><br>The Legislature-Parliament has finally fixed the date for holding discussions on a motion of impeachment registered against Chief of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Lokman Singh Karki. The House is holding discussions on the motion on coming October 25.</p><p>
At a meeting of the Legislature-Parliament today, Speaker Onsari Gharti informed lawmakers that the Parliament shall meet at 15:00 pm of October 25 to discuss the impeachment motion filed by 157 lawmakers from the main opposition CPN (UML) and the ruling party CPN (Maoist Centre) against the CIAA Chief few days back. <br><br><br></p>
