UCPN (Maoist Centre) chairman Dahal elected 39th PM of Nepal

<p>Leader of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and lawmaker Pushpa Kamal Dhal has been elected the 39th Prime Minister of the country.<br><br>He garnered 363 votes in the election to the post of Prime Minister held in the Legislature-Parliament today and got elected as the Executive Chief.<br><br>Of the 573 lawmakers present in the Legislature-Parliament, 363 voted in favour of Dahal while 210 voted against.<br><br>House Speaker Onsari Gharti declared that 363 of the 595 MPs, the number of MPs in the Parliament at the time, were in favour of leader Dahal, which is a majority and thus he has been elected the Prime Minister with a majority.<br><br>Before this, leader Dahal had presented the information about his candidacy in Parliament as per the Article 298 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal and Rule 49 (4) of the Legislature-Parliament Regulations, 2073 BS. The Legislature-Parliament will next meet at 11 am on August 8. <br><br><b>Dahal vows to continue effort in interest of the country and people<br></b><br>CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman and lawmaker Pushpa Kamal Dahal has vowed to continue his effort for sake of the interest of the country and people. <br><br>Mr. Dahal made this commitment before his election to the post of Prime Minister while giving a notice to the House Session of his candidacy to the post.<br><br>On the occasion, he shared his commitment to making sincere effort for country's development with agreements on national agendas. <br><br>He also pledged to run all treaties, agreements and development projects in the interest of the country and the people. <br><br>The would-be premier was of the opinion that the political leadership should be serious towards preparing a strategic development outline reflecting national resolution. He made it clear the government would implement the envisioned development programme in its originality. <br><br>He elaborated further assuring the country would be made self-dependent on agriculture and energy in two years, continue development works in district headquarters, social security programmes, Nijgadh and Gautam Buddha airport among important programmes without in adherence to original framework and bring in additional budget where budget is insufficient while making it nation-oriented. <br><br>He took the occasion to echo his earlier vows to institutionalize republic, inclusiveness, proportionality, and secularism calling it the prime agendas of transformation. <br><br><br><br></p>
