<p>Newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhi Prasad Yadav has assumed his office today. Dr Yadav, who holds PhD in economics, is the 13th CEC of the country.</p><p>Dr Yadav had been serving as Acting Chief Election Commissioner since 28 August 2015. He is the first CEC from the Madhesi origin. <br><br>He took the oath of office and secrecy from Chief Justice Sushila Karki in the presence of President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the Rastrapati Bhawan. <br><br>Assuming the office, CEC Dr Yadav said, his first priority is to help in implementing the constitution. <br><br>According to him, the Election Commission has prepared work plan on how election in local level, provincial level and federal level could be held effectively in stipulated time as mentioned in the new constitution. <br><br></p>
