<p>Senior musician Amber Gurung was cremated with National Honours at Pashupati Aryaghat this evening, following both Hindu and Buddhist traditions. <br><br>His eldest son Kishore lit the funeral pyre and the last rites were performed amidst the chanting of mantras by Buddhist monks. <br><br>Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Bhim Bahadur Rawal draped the late musician's body with the national flag while a contingent of Nepali Army and Nepal Police offered a guard of honour. A large number of people including personalities associated with the music sector and the general public was present to bid final farewell to late Gurung. <br><br>The mortal remains of Gurung had been kept at the Nepal Academy premises from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm today for those wishing to pay their final respects. Gurung passed away in course of treatment at Grande hospital this morning.<br><img src="https://topnepalnews.comuploads/posts/dd09d6bbc3f371c32419e5e9d5ca5e141465320043.jpg" style="width: 751px; height: 568.082px;"><br><b>Prime Minister aggrieved at musician Gurung's demise<br></b><br>Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that he was stunned at the demise of Nepal's shining star of music, Amber Gurung.<br> <br>Paying homage to the legendary musician, Prime Minister Oli has expressed condolence to the grief-stricken family members of the late Gurung.</p><p>Noting that the late Gurung had given new dimension to the eastern classical and folk music world by bringing flavors of western music, the Prime Minister said Gurung's contribution to enrich Nepali music would be ever remembered. The country would ever commemorate his contributions to Nepal and Nepali people through his musical creations," PM Oli noted.<br><br><b>PRESIDENT DEUBA EXTENDS TRIBUTE TO LATE GURUNG<br></b><br>Nepali Congress (NC) President, Sher Bahadur Deuba, today paid tribute to late senior singer and musician, Amber Gurung, mentioning him as the 'bright star' of Nepali music sector. <br><br>Issuing a condolence letter, Deuba praised the singer for his 'crucial contribution' in enhancing the music sector of Nepal. President Deuba said that the death of singer Gurung, who has also composed national anthem, has caused a loss of a prominent composer of thousands of songs.</p><p>The NC President further shared that the music sector incurred an irreparable loss and has become guardian-less. Reminiscent of the 'incomparable contribution' of late Gurung in Nepali music fraternity, Deuba expressed his high regard for the singer. <br><br><b>UML EXTENDS TRIBUTES TO LATE GURUNG<br></b><br>The CPN-UML has said that the party was shocked and grieved over the sad demise of senior musician Amber Gurung. <br><br>The music rendered by Gurung to hundreds of songs in his more than five decades' career built a different genre of Nepali music with the establishment of a distinct Nepali identity and taking the Nepali music sector to new heights, says a statement issued by the party today. <br><br>"His songs full of patriotism helped enhance national awakening while the melodious tune rendered to the present national anthem is remarkable," reads the statement. Stating that his demise has caused an irreparable loss to Nepali music sector, the party has also extended heartfelt tributes to late Gurung.</p><p><b>Late Gurung termed as 'priceless diamond'<br></b><br>Various personalities have termed senior musician Amber Gurung, who died in course of treatment this morning, a 'priceless diamond' of Nepali musical world. <br><br>The mortal body of Gurung was kept on the premises of Nepal Academy from around 11.00 am to 3.00 pm today for paying of final tribute.</p><p>Among various distinguished personalities who paid final respects to the late Gurung were Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Commissioner at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Dr Sabitri Gurung and Secretary at Ministry of Information and Communications Dinesh Chandra Thapaliya. <br><br>Legendary musician Gurung was born at Darjeeling of India on 14 Falgun 1994 BS. His first music was recorded in 2018 BS. He had come to Nepal in 2024 BS. <br>The first Chancellor of Music and Drama Academy Gurung had composed around 1,000 songs and had given voice to as many as 700 songs.<br></p><p><br></p>
