Discussions on no-trust motion going on in Parliament

<p>Discussions on the no-confidence motion registered against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli continued at the Legislature-Parliament meeting today as well. The Parliament began discussions on the motion from yesterday in accordance with the Article 298 (13) of the Constitution and Rule 160(4) of the Legislature-Parliament Regulations.<br><br>Taking part in the discussions today, Nepali Congress leader Ramesh&nbsp; Lekhak said&nbsp; though constitutional and legal questions have been raised over the no-trust motion, this should be finalised on the basis of&nbsp; political decision.&nbsp; In the parliamentary system, the parliament elects the executive chief and removes him/her if it feels the need for it, he said. <br><br>CPN (UML) leader, Bamdev Gautam, today informed the House Session about his efforts to forestall a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. <br><br>He reminded the House of his crucial role in saving the Maoist leaders from the 'mouth of death' and added that points mentioned in the no-confidence motion had weakened his belief towards the Maoists. <br><br>CPN (Maoist Centre) leader, Ram Narayan Bidari, said the constitution's definition should be made not only by looking at the article and sub articles of the constitution rather on basis of constitutional ideology and sentiment. He said the Constitution of Nepal's Article 298 was complete for formation of a new government. <br><br>Nepali Congress leader, Dr Minendra Rijal, said patriotism cannot be achieved by viewing the country's Madhesi community as foreigners and that it is important for CPN (UML) among other parties in the government to understand this fact. <br><br>Dr Rajan Bhattarai and Pashupati Chaulagain of the ruling party, CPN (UML), questioned if the no-confidence motion was brought in revenge for not implementing the decision of the 'people's government' formed during the Maoist insurgency. <br><br>Likewise, <br><br>CPN (UML) leader, Madhav Kumar Nepal, today stressed on need to maintain national consensus in a new manner while taking a stride forward. <br><br>Speaking at the discussion on the no-confidence motion against the PM at the Legislature-Parliament, Nepal said, "The country is about to drown, there are no people who can save the country, political parties have turned into factions, we are conspiring and plotting, everyone should stop leveling accusations by being motivated by prejudice." <br><br>The UML leader spoke of the necessity for all to work in upgrading the nation's image in the international sector and Nepal's dignity. He added that a political decision should be the driving force behind protecting and implementing the constitution. <br><br>Similarly, CPN (Maoist) Center's Haribol Gajurel accused the Prime Minister of ignoring the party voices. Though the party expressed its concerns in writing regarding the enforcement of constitution, Madhes agitation, social justice, peace process and the post- earthquake reconstruction, the Prime Minister did not feel it necessary to address them, he said.&nbsp;&nbsp; Party decided to quit the government as it realised that a logical conclusion of the peace process and addressing people's sentiments were not possible through the KP Sharma Oli-led government. <br><br>Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal's Sushil Shrestha gave his views in favour of the KP Sharma Oli- led government.&nbsp; The country is&nbsp; still suffering the impact of blockade and the incumbent government which took&nbsp; the leadership when the country was in a difficult situation should get continuity, he said. <br><br><br>Similarly,<br><br>Sarbendra Nath Shukla of Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party has said they have not rejected the constitution entirely, but have concerns over&nbsp; some discriminatory articles. &nbsp;<br><br>Taking part in the discussions on the no-trust motion filed against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the Legislature-Parliament today,&nbsp; he accused the Oli-led government&nbsp; of ignoring the issues concerning&nbsp; the Madhes. " The issues of&nbsp; Madhesh are the national-level problems ," he said. <br><br>Similarly, Laxman Lal Karna of Sadbhawana Party said the incumbent Prime Minister&nbsp; is not right to remain in the post even after losing majority&nbsp; in the house. <br><br>Stating that the CPN (Maoist) Center has significant contribution to federalism, republic and secularism in the country, he said his party is in favour of the no-trust motion brought by the party taking the country's largest and oldest party&nbsp; Nepali Congress into confidence with commitments to address the Madhes issues.<br><br>Likewise,&nbsp; Nepal Workers and Peasants Party's Prem Suwal said the no-trust motion&nbsp; was&nbsp; brought in the interest of foreign forces who&nbsp; want&nbsp; keep their influence on Nepal and over the Nepalis. <br><br>Jaydev Joshi of CPN (Unified)&nbsp; said&nbsp; lack of strong commitments from the Prime Minister towards maintaining social harmony and expediting the post-quake reconstruction efforts helped create atmosphere for registering the no-confidence&nbsp; motion against him. <br><br></p>
