<p><span style="line-height: 1.42857;">President Bidya Devi Bhandari has presented the policies and programmes of the government for the fiscal year 2017/18 in the Legislature-Parliament.</span><br></p><p><br></p><p>Before this, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' presented a copy of the government's policies and programmes to the President.</p><p>Presenting the government's policy and programme for the coming fiscal year 2017/18 today, prresidetnt Bhandari said the government has adopted a policy to move ahead towards building a prosperous nation through joint initiative of the private, public and cooperatives sector. </p><p><br></p><p>She said that the government has given special priority to economic reforms. </p><p>Saying the budget would be brought to give continuity to the programme of the current fiscal year, President Bhandari said economic growth is expected to be more than seven per cent, higher than the estimation of the current fiscal budget. </p><p>Stating that the projects of national pride would continue ahead, she said that the government would enhance the capacity of the National Reconstruction Authority in speeding up the post-quake reconstruction in the country. </p><p>President Bhandari said the financial stability would be ensured through capital mobilization of the banking and non-banking sector, while inflation would be kept within a specific boundary and the public procurement process would be made more transparent. </p><p>Fiscal transfer to the local level would be made as per the constitution, while the capacity of the local level units would be enhanced. Economic reforms would be made through increased foreign investment in the industrial sector. The government also adopts a policy to make domestic and foreign investment result-oriented.</p><p>The government's policies and programmes document this year has given special priority to the implementation of the constitution, the election of the federal and the province levels and expediting national pride projects. It also encompasses topics as sustainable economic growth, self-employment, the Brighter Nepal campaign, among others. </p><p><br></p><p>The government has not included new plans in its policies and programmes this year but continued the programmes of the previous year as the election code of conduct remains in force. </p>
