EC now has extra responsibility with increased local level units: CEC Yadav

<p><span style="line-height: 1.42857;">Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has said that the Election Commission now has extra responsibilities after the government's decision of adding 22 more local-level units. &nbsp;</span><br></p><p>In a press meet in Birathnagar today, Dr Yadav committed to sort out this issue after holding discussions with experts and technicians. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>He added that updating voters list and identity cards among others were extra responsibilities to the commission.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>In another note, he clarified that the election symbol 'umbrella' could not be provided to the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal in the second phase of local poll.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>He shared that the commission has written a letter to the government to bring the budget in accordance with the election code of conduct. &nbsp;</p><p><br></p>
