President Bhandari arrives in Bangkok

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has reached in Bangkok, Thailand today as part of her five-day official visit to Thailand and Sri Lanka.

The President is paying an official visit to Sri Lanka at the invitation of her Sri Lankan counterpart, Maithripala Sirisena.

President Bhandari was welcomed in Bangkok by Thai King's Privy Councilor Charunthada Karnasuta and Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Pichet Durongkaveroj and high level officials at the Thai Foreign Ministry.

President Bhandari paid tribute to the body of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The mortal remains of the Thai monarch Bhumibol Adulyadej, who passed away on October 13, 2016, have been placed at the Grand Palace in Bangkok.

The Heads of the State and of Governments of various countries have been coming to Bangkok to pay tributes to the late monarch by offering garlands to the mortal remains.

President Bhandari will also attend a reception to be organized in her honour this evening by the Nepalese Embassy in Bangkok.
The President's entourage includes Minister for General Administration Keshab Kumar Budhathoki, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, foreign affairs expert at the President's Office among others.

President Bhandari will return home on May 16.
