<p><span style="line-height: 1.42857;">The Election Commission (EC) has summoned and discussed with top leaders of all political parties about the overall preparations regarding the local-level polls scheduled for May 14.</span><br></p><p><br></p><p>The top leaders of the parties on the occasion expressed joint commitment to lend support to the commission to organize the local polls in a free and fearless manner.</p><p><br></p><p>Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said the preparation for first phase of the local poll is encouraging and the thanked the commission for its readiness to conduct the election in a short span of time.</p><p><br></p><p>He further said the government has not breached the election code of conduct citing some necessary laws were formulated as per the request of the commission. i</p><p><br></p><p>The PM informed the Election Commission that the government would investigate Jungu incident that claimed life of a UML cadre.</p><p><br></p><p>PM Dahal said that he is saddened by the Jungu incident and he has already asked concerned agencies to investigate the incident.</p><p><br></p><p>Meanwhile, the major political parties have signed a five-point commitment paper with the Election Commission. The commitment paper has mainly stressed that the political parties would remain committed to conduct the local level elections in peaceful and organized environment.</p><p><br></p><p>PM and CPN (Maoist Center) Chair Dahal, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, UML leader Nembang, Naya Shakti Coordinator Bhattarai, RPP leader Buddhiman Tamang, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Co-Chair Rajendra Shrestha have signed the commitment papers along with others.</p><p><br></p>
