<p><span style="line-height: 1.42857;">The Supreme Court of Nepal has sentenced jail terms to three former Inspector Generals of Nepal Police and some others after confirming corruption in the Sudan Scam.</span><br></p><p><br></p><p>The joint bench of chief justice Shusila Karki and and justice Bishwambhar Shrestha sentenced two years jail term and a fine of Rs 50,000 to former IGP Om Bikram Rana on the corruption case.</p><p>Likewise, the bench has sentence one year jail term and slapped a fine of Rs 40,000 each to former IGPs Hem Bahadur Gurung and Ramesh Chanda Thakuri.</p><p><br></p><p>Likewise, the apex court sentenced DIG Ravi Pratap Rana and AIG Deepak Kumar Shrestha of 6 months jail term and a fine of Rs 30,000. Likewise, then AIG Shyam Singh Thapa and then AIG Deepak Singh Thanden also face one year jail term and 40,000 fine to each.</p><p><br></p><p>They were found guilty in embezzling funds and sending substandard logistics to Sudan for the Nepal Police personnel deployed for the United Nationsl peacekeeping mission.</p>
