Amendment bill irrelevant: UML

<p><span style="line-height: 1.42857;">The parliamentary party meeting of the main opposition CPN (UML) today has directed its lawmakers to defeat the constitution bill registered by the ruling parties. &nbsp;</span><br></p><p><br></p><p>The meeting has concluded that the bill was against the public aspiration and national interest. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>The meeting chaired by the party chair and PP leader K P Sharma Oli concluded that the bill was irrelevant as it was forwarded while the constitution was under implementation and local polls already announced. &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>The PP deputy leader Subas Nembang said that it was quite surprising that the government again registered amendment to the constitution amendment bill on Saturday.&nbsp;</p><p>
</p><p>Parliament meeting postponed for facilitating filing of nominations, says PM</p><p><br></p><p>Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that the meeting of the Legislature-Parliament has been postponed in order to concentrate on the filing of nominations of candidacy for the local elections scheduled for May 2.</p><p><br></p><p>The meeting has been postponed to facilitate the travel of all the MPs to their respective districts to prepare for the May 14 elections. And deliberations on the constitution amendment proposal will be held only after May 4, he said.</p><p><br></p><p>Talking to reporters after postponement of the meeting of the Legislature-Parliament earlier today, he stressed that the May 14 elections would not be postponed at any cost. The Prime Minister also expressed the confidence that the Madhesh-centric political parties would take part in the election.</p><p><br></p><p>Likewise, in his brief remarks, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba said the May 14 election is now certain while senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel said the meeting of the parliament was postponed in order to forge a consensus on the constitution amendment bill.</p><p><br></p><p>CPN-UML Vice-chair Bhim Rawal said the UML was of the position that the election has to take place in a single phase, and that the government should recall the amendment proposal.&nbsp;</p>
