Former Senior Superintendent of Nepal Police, Ravi Pratap Rana, one of the convicts in the infamous Sudan scam, has been sent to jail.
Rana, the resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-4, surrendered before the court, following the court verdict and was remanded to the Dilli Bazar prison today itself, according to SC Spokesperson Mahendranath Upadhyay.
As per the legal provision, any convict of the corruption crime shall be given 20 percent deduction in the punishment if the convicted presented self before the court within the 60 days of the verdict.
Likewise, former Additional Inspector General of Police Shyam Singh Thapa, another convict in the scam, had surrendered before the court on June 25 and was put behind the bar.
Former IGPs, Om Bikram Rana and Hem Bahadur Gurung, former DIG Deepak Singh Thangden and former DIG Deepak Kumar Shrestha, other guilty in the scam were sent to the Dilli Bazar Prison on June 21 following their surrender before the court.
