The Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation has prepared the maps with detailed information of the forest areas at all the 744 local levels throughout the country coinciding with the implementation of federalism.
The Ministry had constituted a task force headed by Director General of the Department of Forest Research and Survey, Dr Deepak Kumar Kharal for this purpose.
The task force prepared the maps of forest areas after carrying out detailed study on the forest area in all the Metropolitan Cities, Sub-metropolitan Cities, Municipalities and Rural Municipalities, according to task force coordinator and Director General Kharal.
Kharal said the forest area, non-forested area and the watershed areas falling within the local levels have been identified with extensive data.
The Department says that the report is in the final stage of completion and it would be submitted to the Ministry within the coming three weeks after giving it a final touch.
