As per the latest updates of the vote counting of the May 14 local-level elections held in 34 districts, final results of one municipality and 30 rural municipalities has been out so far.
Accordingly, CPN UML has got victory in one municipality and 10 rural municipalities for the post of chairmen and 9 deputy chairs while Nepali Congress became victorious in 11 rural municipalities in chairman posts and 11 deputy chairmen.
likewise, Maoist Centre got victory in 7 chairmen in rural municipalities and 7 deputy chair posts.
Similarly, RPP got became victorious in one municipality and one rural municipality for the post deputy chairs and one independent candidate won one chairman post and one depuyt chair in rural municipalities.
The election was halted in Namobudhha Municipality in Kavepalanchwok, Melung Rural Municipality in Dolakha, Changunarayan Municipality in Bhaktapur, and Narharinath Rural Municipality and Kalika Rural Municipality in Kalikot due to various reasons. The finding of torn ballots, vandalism in a polling centre, attack on election employees and human casualties in scuffle were the reasons for the postponement of election in the aforementioned areas.
CPN (Maoist Centre) sweeps in Marin Rural Municipality
The CPN (Maoist Centre) has won the entire seats in Marin Rural Municipality in Sindhuli.
Paniraj Bamjan of the party won the election by getting 4,741 votes to the post of chairman while Sangita Majhi won with 4,525 votes in the post of vice-chairperson.
Bamjan's rival Nabaraj Shrestha of Nepali Congress got 1,745 votes and Majhi's rival Bimala Majhi got 1,892 votes. Likewise, Yek Bahadur Rana of CPN (UML) and Naya Shakti Nepal bagged 1,866 votes and Sharmila Majhi from the same alliance got 1,977 votes.
Furthermore, Min Bahadur Sunuwar of CPN (Maoist Centre) won the election in the post of chair in Golanjor Rural Municipality-1 by receiving 528 votes while Karsang Ghalan in Ward No. 1 in Hariharpurgadhi Rural Municipality from the CPN (Maoist Centre).
