PM's call to take active part in local-level elections

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has appealed to all the voters to exercise their sovereign franchise by actively taking part in the local level elections .


Speaking at an program today,  Prime Minister Prachanda has said that the first phase of elections is being held tomorrow as per the federal system of governance comprising three tiers envisaged by the constitution of Nepal. 


PM Dahal said  a  total of 13,556 people's representatives in 283 local level units are being elected in the election being held in 34 districts under Provinces No. 3, 4 and 6,"


He said  through this election  people can exercise their sovereign rights in a democracy, this election can be taken as the first opportunity for the Nepali people to enjoy their sovereign rights


Prime Minister Prachanda has also said that this election stands as a chapter in taking Nepal's peace process to a logical end, 


The PM has appealed to all to use their voting right adding that nearly 40 per cent of the seats will be compulsorily occupied by women with the provision of two women candidates in each ward including a Dalit woman and at least a woman candidate either a mayor or deputy mayor in the municipality and either the chief or deputy chief in the rural municipality.


PM Prachanda has made it clear that the government has left not spared anything from its side to conduct the polls in a free, fair and fearless manner.
