Chairman of the CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, has said his party would not let the constitution be amended, arguing that the proposed amendment is not in the interest of the people and country.
During a programme organized at Sindhulimadi today, Chairman Oli accused the ruling parties of bringing the amendment bill at the behest of outsiders.
According to him, the amendment of constitution was raised to stall the local elections.
Local elections for implementation of constitution, says leader Khanal
CPN-UML senior leader Jhalanath Khanal has underscored the need for local elections for the effective implementation of the new constitution.
Speaking with the journalists at Biratnagar airport today, leader Khanal claimed that the long overdue election is going to be held due to the pressure of the UML and the public's demand.
Voicing disagreement with the constitution amendment bill, Khanal reaffirmed the UML's stance against it.
Meanwhile, Madheshi Janadhikar Forum (Lokatantra) Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachchadar has echoed with UML leader Khanal, stating that the local election is a must to bring into effect the new constitution.
Speaking to the media persons at the Biratnagar airport today, leader Gachchadar pressed for endorsing the constitution amendment bill with revision and protecting the rights of the Madheshi, Tharu and indigenous community.
