Prof Dr Keshab Prasad Singh has been appointed Dean of Institute of Medicine (IOM) to be effective from today.
The meeting of the Office of Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University yesterday took a decision to this effect.
The appointment was based on a recommendation of the Dean Selection Committee. Along with Dr Singh Prof Dr Jagadhish Prasad Agrawal and Prof Dr Jyoti Sharma had also been recommended for the coveted post.
However, senior doctor at TUTH Gobinda KC, who previously launched strike at different times demanding reforms in medical sector, opposed to the appointment. He went a step further warning to launch his 10th fast-onto-death from today at 3 pm if the appointment was not corrected.
However, Dr Khaniya claimed that Dr Singh was appointed on the basis of seniority.
