Nepali Congress General Secretary, Dr Shashank Koirala, has said his party does not support the policy of allowing naturalized citizens to take up the mantle of country's president.

At a press conference in Dhangadi today, Dr Koirala referred to the constitutional provisions barring naturalized citizens to become prime minister in India and president in the United States of America.

He said it will not be in the interest of the country to allow a naturalized citizen to take up the mantle of country's premier.

Responding to a journalist's query, the NC General Secretary argued that the constitution cannot be implemented without amending it and stressed on need for all the parties to unite for the same.
