The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has accused the government of handing over the responsibility to its close non-governmental organisations to run the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), a government body authorised to carry out reconstruction works following the April 25, 2015 earthquake.
The participants made this accusation at a programme organized by the NC to discuss the delay and misappropriation in the reconstruction efforts. They also accused the government led by CPN (UML) of appointing people close to the UML to the authority.
Speaking at the event, NC central member Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat accused Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of a failure to keep his words to put a roof over the heads of all quake survivors. Another NC leader Mahesh Acharya said that his party will propose to draw attention of the government to its failure to rehabilitate the quake victims in time and find a solution to the problem.
