Silence period to begin for one am Saturday

The election Commission (EC) has said that ‘silence period’ for the third phase of local level elections to be held in Province 2 will start from  midnight today.


Issuing a press statement, EC said today that political parties, their electoral candidates, office bearers, independent candidates, civil society, voters including the media should refrain from elections-related publicity until the voting comes to an end. 


The parties should stay away from holding election campaigns and stop using SMS, Facebook and Vibor to ask for votes.

Chief election commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadab has said that commission is committed to conduct the third phase of local polls in free fair and fearless environment.


At an interactin program in the capital today, he said commission would take stringent action to the code of conduct violators.
