EC asks govt to make special arrangement for security during election

the election commission has issued a 17 point direction to the government targeting the local election to be held on 18 september in the province number 2.

the meeting of the commission held today chaired by its chief commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadab isssued this direction thruough chief secretary to the government in a bid to make the election taking place in 136 local levels in the number two province a success.

The EC directed the political parties and other organizations distributing relief items to provide them to the district-based Natural Disaster Management Committee headed by the Chief District Officers (CDOs).

The EC has also urged the CDOs to make arrangements for distributing relief materials to flood-affected people in their respective districts with priority. 

similarly it directed to close all schools in the province from September till voting is over.

The Election Commission (EC) also directed the Home Ministry to make special arrangement for security during election to hold the third-round of local level in Province No. 2 in a free, fair and peaceful manner. 

A meeting of the EC issued the directive in this regard. The EC also asked the government to make arrangement to keep the licensed weapons under the surveillance of concerned District Administration Offices as well as stop production and selling of alcohol during the election. 

A press release issued by EC Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma also requested the government to keep some people having suspicious character under the surveillance of police.
